The Rundown: Alfred tells Bruce the story of Bane as the man heads to Gotham to find him.

The dark and dangerous entity known as Bane is coming to Gotham and he is hunting for Batman. Alfred decides it is time to tell Bruce who and what Bane is both as a man and as a threat. He tells him of the island of Santa Prisca and the birth of the boy who becomes Bane. He tells him of the revolution that landed him and his father in prison as well as the events that led to his escape and the meeting with a man who would change his life.
After telling him where Bane came from, he tells him everything he knows about what Bane has become and what he has done throughout the world. He also tells him the reality of who and what he is facing as well as what will happen to him if Bane succeeds.
The Story: Snyder crafts a story that is absolutely haunting in its depth and darkness. Having Alfred narrate not only the story of Bane, but what Bane wants from Bruce is a brilliant move because it shows not only a real fear from Alfred, but also how the bond with Bruce is growing and evolving. There are some truly terrifying moments throughout this story and Snyder continues to do some of the best world building I’ve seen in comics. I am excited to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Mann creates some beautiful imagery throughout the issue. I love the visuals and how mysterious, dark and scary Mann makes Bane.
